2006 MLB opening day

There's something about seeing an afternoon game on opening day at Shea that brings back memories of being a kid growing up in Queens. I remember rushing home from school to try to catch the last few innings. It was usually a tight ballgame with Seaver or Koosman hooked up in a pitching duel with the opponent's ace. The Mets didn't score many runs back then, so Seaver either had to go the full nine innings or hope that McGraw could close it out in the ninth. Today's game reminded me of all those games of my childhood. (And it was great to get a win too, although we were helped by a blown call.)
