I'm finding xooglers an interesting read. It strikes me that they had many of the same types of problems AV did. So perhaps it is not as some have suggested that Google employees (especially engineers) were smarter than AV employees, but that Google was able to deal with problems more quickly than AV was. One major difference between the two companies is that Google invested much more in their technology than AV did. AV spent ridiculous amounts of money on "properties" such as, for example.
