Watching the Katrina devastation, I was thinking back to my trip to New Orleans five years
ago. It was for a dance showcase at a hotel near downtown. (I did a hustle solo with my
teacher.) We spent some time walking through the French Quarter and actually were part of a
pre-Mardi Gras parade through the streets. I'd heard about how most of the city was below
sea level, and remember thinking how awful it would be if a major storm flooded the

I'm still quite busy, even though the choral exchange is over and things have pretty much
returned to the usual routine. I've been thinking I may give up one more activity in order
to free up some time. Either that, or cut back on some piano practice time. I may cut my
piano practice time in half and use the remaining time for French. More later ...
