classic cylon

(no subject)

Listening to music with headphones at work has helped cut down the background noise
considerably and enabled me to focus more on my projects. Also, there have been fewer
meetings, so there is more time for my tasks. Next week, I'll be in a training class for
some of the products. I've actually learned a fair amount of two of them, but having the
extra time for practice will hopefully be helpful. I don't feel quite as uneasy as I did at
the beginning of the week. However, I'll (hopefully) feel better when I have a good solid
understanding of the products.

That said, I miss not working. I miss being able to practice piano for two solid hours a
day. I miss being able to take my mid-morning walks. I miss having time in the evenings to
study and practice French. I actually reviewed a chapter from my French instruction book
earlier this evening instead of going dancing. It looks like I probably won't be dancing
regularly for quite some time.

I hadn't planned to audition for any solos in my chorus' holiday program. However, during
our last rehearsal, when the director invited people who were interested in trying out for
the solos in the Baby It's Cold Outside/Let It Snow medley, she went over to where I
was sitting and motioned me to get up out of my seat and sing with the candidates. I
hadn't given any thought to singing that solo, so I had to sightread the part cold. The
score is handwritten, which made it even more difficult to read. So now I have a bit of a
dilemma that I think I should at least try to work on the solo a bit since the director
wants me to audition for it, even though I hadn't planned on auditioning for anything at
all. (I'm not even sure I'll be able to make it to all of the performances.) I spent a
little time on it today, and it's starting to grow on me a bit.
