classic cylon

(no subject)

In last Friday's BG, we got a bit more insight into Baltar's character than we've had so far. Still, however, seeing him begging for salvation is a big departure from the original series. The original Baltar didn't even throw himself on the mercy of the Council of Twelve when he was brought before them (read: summoned by Count Iblis).

I've finally watched all of the Galactica 1980 episodes. OK, it's not as good as the original series. In fact, I would probably agree with the critics who complained that Space Croppers was a terrible episode. I think they just cut back way too much on filming. Having one of the pilots woo-hah! upon shooting down a Cylon raider right after an agroship is destroyed seems in poor taste to me. But I think (perhaps unintentionally) the producers spoofed some cop shows from that era. There are several scenes where Troy (Kent McCord) and Dillon (Barry Van Dyke) outwit the local law enforcement, and in a few, you see a pair of puzzled cops wondering how they got away. There was something very familiar about Kent McCord driving a police car he'd appropriated from some clueless cop; thanks to IMDB I now remember he was Officer Jim Reed in Adam-12. And those scenes on LA area freeways look like they came straight out of CHiPs. So I'll give the producers a few points for humor and sentimental value.

While practicing piano today I started feeling tired. I couldn't concentrate very well on the music. Perhaps I'm starting to burn out a bit. If I start feeling tired while practicing tomorrow, I'll ask my teacher what she thinks. I was also feeling tired while reviewing some French, but the feeling went away after reading some LJ. The cold clammy rainy weather isn't helping.
