classic cylon

(no subject)

On Thursday night I went dancing. I had a pretty good time, but my bolero and quickstep have become a bit rusty. Afterwards, I started regretting discontinuing dance lessons. I've thought on and off about starting them up again, but last night was the first time I felt it strongly. However, I will probably hold off on resuming dance lessons for a while longer. I don't think I will be able to give the proper attention and focus to dancing, chorus, piano, learning French, looking for work, and math/cs problem solving. Even if I do find a job, I might wait until after the August concert to resume dance lessons, and take the fall quarter of chorus off.

Speaking of problem solving, I checked out Arthur Engel's Problem-Solving Strategies from the Mtn View library over the holidays. It has much more difficult problems than aha! Insight. After attempting the problems, I have to spend a lot of time studying the solutions to make sure I understand each step. French is starting to take more time as well. Part of the problem is that it is sometimes difficult to understand what the people on the tape are saying. (The recordings were taken from unscripted conversations.)
