classic cylon

(no subject)

My chorus had another concert yesterday in Belmont, at a retirement home we'd never performed at before. Several people, myself included, had trouble finding the place, causing us to be late for the concert call (although in plenty of time for the performance). I also was delayed by some construction on Alameda de las Pulgas near the Stanford-Menlo Park border. (If you're wondering why I just didn't take 101 or 280, I wanted to take a leisurely drive.) I wound up taking 280 after all, which wouldn't have been a problem, except I was in my 1985 Honda, whose fifth gear does not work very well. (My mechanic has advised me not to use its fifth gear any more.) I don't usually use that car on freeways, and in fact, it has been some time since I've driven it faster than 55 mph. However, it peformed reasonably in fourth gear at 65-70 mph.

We had a minor train wreck on To Shorten Winter's Sadness again. Fortunately, there were enough people who came in with the correct words to counter the ones who didn't. I'm not sure why this is happening. It's only been in the last two performances that this problem has surfaced.

Today would have been my piano "recital." I hit my performance target speed for the Bach, and the Heller is not far behind. However, I still have a ways to go on Ukranian Carol.

My French learning is coming along reasonably. However, I may not be able to finish the course in three months, which is how long I have until it needs to be returned to the library (including two renewals). I may wind up buying the course or something similar.
