classic cylon

(no subject)

Since I knew I was going to be busy this past weekend, I thought I would go to bed and get plenty of rest on Friday night. However, it didn't work; I didn't sleep well. I dreamed that a small, ferocious black dog was chasing me. I finally made it into a house, but somehow the dog broke through the screen door. I was trying to find a place to hide so the dog wouldn't find me. I finally found a room with some people eating. I didn't want anything to eat, so I left the room. The dream ended there, but I was tired when I woke up.

The tired feeling persisted throughout the day. We had our first performance on Saturday afternoon. The room doesn't have great acoustics, but it's not as bad as if we were singing in the dining hall, where the acoustics are much worse. However, I wasn't able to concentrate too well, and missed some entrances (and came in early once).

I was feeling less tired on Sunday. I had to be at the Starlite early to get comments on my dances. I knew I was going to be dancing early, but I didn't know I was going to be in the first flight. I didn't have much time to warm up. The music during the viennese was very fast; a bit too fast for that early in the morning (10am).

I had to leave the dance studio around noon to go to my chorus' next performance. I was able to focus a bit better, which was good, because there were only three basses, including one baritone (me). There's several pieces with divisis in the bass section, so I was on my own there. I thought this performance was better than Saturday's. Unfortunately, there were several entrances missed by the other basses.

I had to get back to the dance studio to do my samba. I thought I would only barely make it, but it turned out they had fallen way behind schedule so it was about an hour before my samba. When I danced it, the music wasn't too fast, so I was able to think about what I wanted to do before doing it. I did pretty much all of the patterns my teacher and I had worked on.
