unemployed MIT grad hits the streets

This story has been out for a while, but I hadn't heard about it until getting some alum email. Joshua Persky, bachelor's in course 15(management), has taken his job search to the streets of NYC. The story has gotten a fair bit of press, including a Fox News interview. AFAIK, he hasn't gotten any offers yet, although he's received numerous leads.

So ... why didn't I think of that? Pounding the pavement of downtown Palo Alto, outside of Il Fornaio, a favorite dining spot of the Valley VCs. Or a trot down Mathlida Ave. in Sunnyvale, hitting Yahoo!, Juniper Networks, and Lockheed Martin? Or even a trip over to the 'plex? Maybe I could've gotten someone like Jim Goldman (CNBC Silicon Valley Bureau Chief) to interview me.

Seriously ... perhaps this is not the best approach. He's been criticized for not trying more traditional approaches (for professionals). (His response: they're not working.) At any rate, I feel for the guy, having been in that position not too long ago.
