I haven't written much on the subject of being "smart", a great problem solver, etc. There are some things I've been thinking about, but don't really have time to write them down right now. At least some of these have been captured in a post about whether one has to be a genius to be a mathematician that I discovered via mathematics. There are some links from the post I also found interesting, including one by Po Bronson about praising kids that has received praise itself.
