odd ad

While listening to the 50s-60s stream at 1.FM, I was taken
to an eBay auction page for a diamond jewelry set.

Were they by any chance playing the song, "This Diamond Ring"?

I don't think so. I've since seen a couple more eBay ads that were unrelated to any of the songs playing. One ad was for a piccolo, sent while a remake of Taco's Puttin' on the Ritz was played. The other was for a Dodge car during a Latin freestyle song.

Just got another ad, this time for studio headphones, while listening to the 1.FM 90's channel. The song isn't at all related to the ad, but it's at least marginally relevant to me (I may buy studio headphones someday).

Since these ads are probably being paid for on a per impression basis, I hope whoever set up the deal realized the viewer might be coming from another site, instead of one of those "dodgy partners" deals I've written about. Some advertisers pay for distribution in ad networks to increase visibility, but there are shady partners who distribute to low-converting sites and/or fraudulent sites that exist just to earn money from impressions, clicks, etc.
