Gita is reworking my east coast swing styling. It's almost like relearning the dance again. I noticed that my (sometimes) other teacher Michelle was teaching an east coast swing group class, using the same technique Gita was teaching me, so I asked why the Starlite decided to change the way east coast swing was taught. She said that the dances change and evolve over time so the staff changes the teaching method to keep in line with the evolution of the dances.

Since I took a year and a half off from lessons, perhaps I missed some things. Also, I need to take into account that the Starlite went through a major restructuring when the old owner quit and the new owners decided to upgrade the syllabus to be more competition-oriented. Some of the teachers don't like the new syllabus and enjoy dancing some of the old syllabus patterns with me. OTOH there are teachers who prefer the newer syllabus because they feel the students are learning more contemporary technique and styling.

My current allocation of lessons is about to run out. As I've written before, I'm not sure yet if I'm going to sign up for more. Part of me wants to because I enjoy dancing; the rest of me is concerned about the time and money spent.
