The Mets lost today. Before the loss, they were 8-1, which was their best start since 1985,
a year in which they won 98 games, but finished second in the NL East. St. Louis won 101
games. (This was "back in the day" before the NL Central was created.)

(Why do I remember this, and not stuff like the difference between == and eq in Perl?)

I sometimes feel like Keith Hernandez (SNY Mets sportscaster/analyst) did during his slump
in the 1985 season. In his book IF AT FIRST he discussed how he hadn't a clue as to why he
was in a slump. (If you're interested, most of the book is a day-to-day journal of his 1985
season.)
